The control arm on a Dodge Diesel has a very important job. They are mounted along the sides of the truck and anchor the top and the bottom of the front axle. This prevents the front axle from rolling toward the rear bumper as well as rolling toward the front bumper. Over time, the bushings in these control arms wear out and as a result, the front axle begins to rock back and forth toward the front and rear bumper.
In some cases, particularly in off road vehicles, the weak factory control arms can become damaged by logs, rocks and other off road hazards. To help prevent damage from off road hazards, many owners choose to install a lift kit on their truck. Lift kits can increase the clearance between truck components and ground level hazards. Many customers have asked about improving the ride and handling of their truck. This is especially true of trucks with lift kits and oversize tires on them. From the factory, the ride and geometry of the truck is carefully considered to ensure safety, comfort and stability. However, when modifications are made, the location of critical parts are moved relative to the rest of the vehicle. For instance, when suspension components are changed, like the incorporation of a lift kit, often the front axle is no longer properly centered underneath the front of the truck. When this happens, it has a dramatic and almost always negative impact on the ride quality of the vehicle. Fortunately, Source Automotive has developed a Dodge Adjustable Control Arm that can be adjusted while still on the truck! This allows the technician to perfectly place the axle right where it needs to be after they have been installed! Other control arm designs force the installer to guess and then install and then check for proper axle placement. This is cumbersome and time consuming. Source Automotive in conjunction with Solid Steel Industrial, have designed the ideal Adjustable Control Arm that every Dodge Truck should have! Content is originally taken from http://goo.gl/sNxAhs |
